Places to See & Things To Do

Iztutzu Beach is not only 4.5 kilometres of golden sand but also home to the loggerhead turtle (caretta caretta) and as such gained protected status since 1988. Work is ongoing to protect this endangered species and the enviroment, including the turrtle rescue centre on Iztutzu beach.

Iztuzu Beach can be reached by either boat or road and a public service operates by either method. Sunbeds and parasols are available for hire at the beach and there are refreshment and shower facilities

Kaunos – UNESCO World Heritage Site

Hop across the river either by row boat or the ferry and either hitch a ride on the tractor service or take the pretty walk, to what was once an important city and point of commerce between Turkey and Egypt and beyond. Dating back to the 4th century BC with Romans Baths and an ampitheatre, the area remained a mystery until it was rediscovered by an English archaeologist in 1842 and each year more of this amazing site is unearthed.

Messing around On the Water

One of our and our guest’s favourite things to do here is to be out on the water for either a day or evening trip. With a delicious BBQ and homemade mezes on board you will be spoilt for choice and with days at seas or on the lake, everyone will be happy.

Mud Baths & Hot Springs

At the bottom of the lake and river bed lies therapeutic mud which is said to make you appear 10 years younger when applied to your face and body. There are a variety of mud baths here for you to test out that theory.

Fethiye

The coastal town of Fethiye is just over an hour away and on a Tuesday has it’s weekly market, one of the largest in our region and well worth as visit, as is the fish market. The fish market is open daily and you select your fish or seafood and one of the restaurants there will cook it for you.

Olu Deniz & Kaya Köy

Just a little further on and over the mountain from Fethiye lies the village of Kaya Köy (see our holiday read recomendations) which was predominantly a Greek community before the repatriation of Greeks and Turks, after World War 2 as part of the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923 and is now an open air museum. If you close your eyes you can imagine the village bustling on market day.

After a historical interlude pop down Ölüdeniz to either get the chance for a tandem paraglide off of Mount Babadağ or catch the rays on the beach at the National Park – the Blue Lagoon.
